Kitten Season: How You Can Help Save Lives

Kitten season has begun! As the weather warms, countless kittens are born—many of whom are abandoned in plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or dumpsters. Without human intervention, when necessary, many of these vulnerable kittens will not survive. But you can make a difference!
Be a Lifesaver: Stay Alert and Take Action
🐾 Check Plastic Bags & Boxes – If you see an abandoned bag, box, or bin in an unusual place, stop and check inside. Kittens are often discarded in hidden areas.
🐾 Listen for Cries – Hungry, scared kittens will cry for help. Pay attention near ditches, alleyways, and garbage bins.
🐾 Do Not Assume Someone Else Will Help – You are "someone." Their lives may depend on your action.
Found Kittens? Here’s What to Do!
✅ Assess the Situation
• Are they clean and warm? Their mother may still be caring for them. Wait and observe from a distance before intervening.
• Are they cold, dirty, or in immediate danger? They need urgent help!
✅ Provide Care If Needed
• Keep them warm – Place them in a soft towel or blanket.
• Contact PAACT or rescues
• Do NOT feed cow’s milk – It can be harmful to kittens. Use kitten formula if necessary.
✅ Avoid Removing Healthy Kittens Prematurely
• The mother cat provides the best care. Only intervene if the kittens are truly abandoned or in danger.
